Love, Family & Lakeside Vows: A Cedar Creek Lake Wedding at Sunrise Point
Every wedding on our peninsula feels magical, but it’s a whole different experience when it’s one of your own! Sue, the owner here at Sunrise Point and mom of the groom, Casey, asked me to help plan the day with his bride, Crystal. We spent months working on every detail. From choosing the perfect ceremony spot to adding floral touches that blended with the natural beauty of Cedar Creek Lake, every decision was made with love. This wasn’t just another wedding at Sunrise Point; it was the Cedar Creek Lake wedding Crystal had always dreamed of.
Setting the Scene for a Lakeside Wedding at Cedar Creek Lake
After months of planning across the miles—Crystal in Houston and me here in Malakoff—it was finally time to make the magic happen! The day was perfect. A gentle breeze balanced the warm October sun. The property looked stunning. Late blooms were in full color, the grass stretched green across the lawn, and the trees stood tall and full. And, as if to bless the day, Foxy—our resident fox—made a surprise appearance! Sunrise Point was set for a day of family, beauty, and celebration—the ideal backdrop for a Cedar Creek Lake wedding.
The Lakeside Ceremony: A Family Wedding at Cedar Creek Lake
We held the ceremony right by the lake—it’s the only way we do a Cedar Creek Lake wedding! Forty white garden chairs stretched across the broad lawn. Family and friends traveled from near and far to witness the day. A wooden arch framed the couple, with two ‘broken arch’ towers overflowing with Crystal’s favorite flower: sunflowers. (Special thanks to our florist, Dogwood Designs, for making this vision come to life!)
Dragonflies buzzed around the lantana in bloom. The sunset cast a warm glow over the lake. Then, Annie—Sue’s wife—stepped forward to marry Casey and Crystal. It was a moment of intimacy and family connection as two families became one. Crystal’s sons stood by Casey’s side, while Casey’s daughters stood with Crystal. Surrounded by loved ones, this beautiful moment embodied the essence of a Cedar Creek Lake wedding at Sunrise Point.
The Reception: Rustic Elegance and Family Fun at Sunrise Point
We went with a warm, rustic look for the reception. Wooden farm tables and fruitwood chairs were arranged in a U shape. At the center sat the head table, where the bride, groom, and their five kids gathered as a new family. Each guest found their seat with a sweet touch—a cookie with their name waiting for them. Café lights twinkled overhead, casting a soft glow over the tables and creating a romantic setting. A bar featured signature drinks by Disaronno, Casey’s workplace, adding a special touch for guests to enjoy. And to honor family tradition, we set the cake on Annie’s mom’s table, adding another layer of meaning to this Cedar Creek Lake wedding.
For dinner, guests enjoyed a hearty meal. Options included a beef tenderloin carving station, a baked potato bar, and a fresh salad station. Later, Casey, Crystal, and their kids entered as the “Hartle Cartel,” dancing together to “We Are Family.” Their entrance captured the spirit of the day. This wedding was not only about the bride and groom. It was about bringing family together in an unforgettable way at Sunrise Point, making this Cedar Creek Lake wedding a day to remember.
A Perfect Ending at Sunrise Point
As the evening continued, laughter and dancing filled the air under the Texas stars. Family and friends stayed in our cottages, making Sunrise Point feel like a true family retreat. Casey and Crystal’s wedding was a beautiful blend of love, family, and warmth. Crystal, who had always dreamed of a wedding like this, finally had the Cedar Creek Lake wedding she wanted, surrounded by her loved ones. And as the sun set on Cedar Creek Lake, it felt like the perfect start to their journey together.
